† Aleksandar Spasov

literary critic, historian, essayist, anthologist. Born 18th August 1926 in Skopje. Died May 27, 2003. Graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy in Skopje. Ph.D. in Philology. University Professor. Member of the Macedonian Academy of Arts and Sciences. Member of the Macedonian Writers' Association since 1951. Works: The roads of the word (criticism, 1956), Anthology of Contemporary Macedonian Poetry (1961), Anthology of Contemporary Macedonian Poetry and Prose (in Serbian, 1961), Contemporary Macedonian Poetry (in Slovenian, 1963), Contemporary Macedonian Poetry (in Serbian, 1967), On Macedonian Literature (studies, criticism, 1969), Our Recognition (criticism, 1971), Studies and Commentaries (1977), The Day's Task (criticism, 1979), Kočo Racin (monograph in French, (UNESCO), Paris, 1986), Kočo Racin (literary-historical documents, 1995), The Petrović Brothers - Andreja and Kostantin (study, 1996), Macedonian - Slovenian Literary and Cultural Relations (research and commentaries, 1998). He had also prepared the edition of the books: Kočo Racin- poetry and prose (1954), A book on Miladinovci (co-author, 1962), A book on Racin 1943-1963, (joint work, 1963), A book on Kliment Ohridski (joint work, 1966), Koco Racin - "Beli mugri" and other works (1974).
Awards include: "11th October", "Kočo Racin", "Župančićevo priznanie", Dimitar Mitrev".
