Georgi Stardelov
aesthetician, essayist, literary theorist and critic. Born 28th March 1930 in Gevgelija. Graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade. Ph.D. in Philosophy. Professor at the Faculty of Philosophy in Skopje. Member of the Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts. Former president of the Macedonian P.E.N. Centre and of the Macedonian Writers' Association. Honorary member of the Association of Spanish writers. Member of the Macedonian Writers' Association since 1957. Works: Essays (essays and criticism, 1957), The Modern and Modernism (essays, 1962), Worlds (essays, 1969), Antei in Search of Good Soil (essays and criticism, 1971), Age of Controversy (essays and criticism, 1977), Between Literature and Life (essays, criticism, 1981), Exsperimentum Macedonicum (1983), Weary Avant-Guard (treatise, 1985), Portraits and Profiles (literary portraits, 1987), Experiences (selection, 1987), The Breaking of Strength - the Poetry of Blaze Koneski (1989), Summa Aestheticae (1991), Antei Touches the Earth (1993), Ten (literary portraits and profiles, 1994), Kurbinovo Tribe (1994), Extolments - the Poetry and Poetic Experience of Ante Popovski (1997), Nebidninata - the poetry and poetic experience of Aco Sopov (2000). His collected works were published in nine volumes, in 2000.
Has compiled the anthologies: Post-war Macedonian prose writers (in Macedonian and Serbian languages, 1960), Four poetic circles (two language edition - Macedonian and Serbian, 1974), Freedom or death poetic anthology of the Ilinden period (1978), Oh, poet, you are aware of your duty (1979), The church-bells of Krusevo (1983), Contemporary Macedonian poets (1998).
Awards include: “Kočo Racin”, “11th October”, “13th November”, “Kultura”, “Dimitar Mitrev”.
