Risto Lazarov

poet, literary critic, publicist, translator. Born 3rd October 1949 in Štip. Graduated from the Faculty of Philology in Skopje. Has worked as a journalist in many editorial offices. One-time editor-in-chief of Tanjug. Currently director of Telma Television. Member of the Macedonian Writers’ Association since 1972. Author of the following books of poetry: A Night Bird in the Park (1972), Jana (1980), Frightful Giggling (1982), Drops of Sour Truth (1985), Summer Over the Ocean (1988), Gorjan in Dojran (poetry for children, 1988), Odroni (selection, 1988), Boiling Point (1990), Setting Off from Bitola (poetry for children, 1990), Hardly Trustworthy (1993), Siljan the Stork Flies round Macedonia Again (1995), A History of Illness (1996), Reality (1996), Heraclea (1999), Columbus (2000), Three for Card Game (2001), Not Spoken through (2003), Sudden One (2005), Cehopek (2006, 2007), and Mid (2008).
His poetry books were published in English, Russian, Czech, Serbian, Slovenian, Albanian, and Bulgarian language.
Awards include: Radio-Television Skopje at the Struga Poetry Evenings Festival, “13th November”, “Praznik na lipite 2000”, Macedonian Writers’ Association “Aco Sopov”, “Mlad Borec”, “8th November”, “Mito Hadživasilev-Jasmin”. Was decorated with Medal of Labour with Golden Wreath. He has also published numerous journalism books.
