The Seventh Ohrid P.E.N. Conference

The Conference took place 17^th -21^st June 2004. The theme of the Conference was Cultural Diversity and Translations. The Conference was oP.E.N.ed with the report from the president, Mr. Dimitar Bashevski. Fifty representatives from the Balkan region and wider, from the world, participated at the Conference. The Conference was attended and greeted by the International Secretary of P.E.N., Mr. Terry Carlbom. At the beginning of the event, the deputy Minister for Culture, Mrs. Melpomeni Korneti arranged a welcoming cocktail for the Conference. In her addressing she pointed out the meaning of the values of the Macedonian P.E.N. Centra, the host of the World Congress of the International P.E.N. in 2002.

During the Conference the participants had a chance to get acquainted with the natural beauties of Ohrid and its sights, and at the international literary reading the domestic and foreign poets had a chance not only to read their poetry, but also to attend the promotion of certain editions, such as The European Literary Studies by Nulo Minisi. The academy member, Mr. Mateja Matevski presented this book. At the end of the meetings, the participants visited St. Naum, as a part of the boat excursion.

During the Conference the Meeting of the T&LRCommittee, chaired by Mrs. Katica Kulavkova took place, themed on the basis of issues relevant to the domain of the Committee's activities.
